Tips for a Stress-Free Photo Session

Does your family get stressed out before getting photos taken? I know, we as moms/wives, tend to get the most stressed out and take it out on our loved ones. We want everything to be perfect. Even as photographer myself, I have struggled with this with myself and my own family. So this summer, I approached our family photo session differently. To ensure that we all showed up relaxed, happy and ready for photos, I followed these 4 things that I highly recommend to any family booking a session with me. It really did help!!

Tip #1: Leave your kid(s) with your partner while you go get some self-care. Your partner will be relaxed because we tend to stress out about getting everyone ready, including ourselves. If you take the stress out initially, by letting your significant other get himself and the kids ready, then everyone should show up relaxed.

Tip #2: Go get your hair and make-up done. Taking this extra step in self-care, will not only put you in a calm and relaxed mood, but it will also enhance your natural beauty and make you feel good!! I hired Erin Flint of Rogue Beauty who did an amazing job at her in-home studio. She was only 10 minutes away from my photo session location and I felt so incredibly beautiful and relaxed.

Erin Flint of Rogue Beauty made me look and feel beautiful! She was affordable and made the whole process easy and relaxing. You can reach out to her at https://303makeupandhair.com/contact

Tip #3: Get to your location early and find a way to relax and unwind. This could be simply letting the kids play and expel some energy while you have an uninterrupted conversation with your spouse… or, for us, it was bringing our favorite can of beer or wine and enjoying a drink together.

Tip #4: Lastly, enjoy the uninterrupted time with your loved ones and trust the photographer you hired. With cell phones away and distractions out of sight, you can focus on playing and connecting with your family outdoors.

Oh, and don’t let your husband let your son bring blue Gatorade with him (as seen pictured here in the last photo.) Water is best! Luckily, it didn’t make him have a blue mouth and tongue, like usual!
